Sorting the Links to Blog Only The Bling

Many years ago, I had a blog called BlogBling.  I just happened to remember it and tried to see if it was still there.  Indeed, it is!  I don’t remember the login anymore and I think my password probably goes to my Yahoo email that is probably now deactivated.

This was back in the day before some of the bigger sites got popular with posting random and interesting things.  I had a pretty good following but then it got too difficult and I got too busy.

It’s fun to find old things! 🙂

It’s Time to Rebuild

Rebuild Me

This is serious business.

I need to rebuild…myself.

I used to be a very active person.  I played in a basketball league every week.  I was running a lot.  I played football.  I could also do almost anything physical at a whim when it came to sports.  About this time last year, I could also do 48 consecutive pushups.

That’s who I used to be.  Who I am today is quite different.   Continue Reading

Potato Chip Rock - Mt. Woodson

Hiking Mt. Woodson’s Potato Chip Rock

My work has this thing where you can take one day off a year to do volunteer work and still get paid and also one day off to do something active and also get paid.  The end of the year is coming up quickly and I needed to think of what to do with my days.  Last year I used it for snowboarding which was nice but we didn’t go this year so I still had it.

In the back of my mind I had always wanted to go see the potato chip rock – well, not really see it but to take that picture that everyone has on it!  I mean, it does look pretty cool.  However, there often isn’t a lot of time to do such a thing.  Since I knew Marisa sometimes has Fridays free, I asked her which one she was free on and asked if she wanted to go check it out with me.  So that’s what we did yesterday.

I really didn’t do much research on it as I usually like to do before embarking on things.  I had no idea how long it was going to take nor did I know where it was.  I heard people say it took several hours so I had that in the back of my mind.  I had also left the house early in the morning to go to the doctor and saw how foggy and misty it was outside so I thought it might be a bit cool so that was good.  But then I thought about it some more and I thought that since it was inland it was probably going to be hot.  Anyway, we both had a bagel to go and both had one nalgene bottle each.  I didn’t want to carry much so I cut down on things and wore shorts with pockets.  We looked around for sunscreen and I couldn’t find mine.  Marisa had some face one which was 15 spf that I used on my face and rubbed the leftovers on my shoulders and off we went. Hong Kong Baked Rice

Hong Kong Baked Rice Recipe

I like cooking.  I actually like cooking a lot.  I think I actually like cooking for other people more than I like cooking for myself.  I used to cook a lot but not so much in the past few years.

Cindy’s baby shower is coming up in a few weeks and I was going to make this dish for it.  I already told her so it isn’t a secret.  I wanted to do a trial run before trying to cook something for the first time in mass quantities.  I had originally wanted to do the Hong Kong Baked Pork Chop Rice dish but decided to change it to a cream base as I thought it would be easier.  Typically, this dish is made with seafood.  I wanted to make it with chicken but that would take more time.  I scoured my cupboard for ingredients and found a can of salmon from a party not too long ago.  Hey, don’t hate on the canned salmon, it’s actually good – especially the one from Costco.  I decided to make it with salmon.

I wanted to make this for dinner for me and Monica before Women’s group (that’s our Women’s Bible study group) so I asked Monica to cook the rice the night before because the base of this dish is fried rice.  Now, this is kind of the few times I’ve actually taken pictures of the process of making something.  It’s typically a finished photo.  I also realized while reviewing my pictures that nearly all of them are blurry, haha, oh well.  This is probably the first time I’ve instructed with pictures how to do something. Silver Lining Sunset Beginnings

And so it begins, this new blog here.

I was inspired by Alice over at “What’s On My Mind Grapes?” to start up a new blog.  I love reading her posts because they’re so interesting, entertaining, and real.  Some people have been asking me what I’m going to write about.  I’m not entirely sure yet, probably musings, thoughts, things I do, things I want to do, something that will also be interesting to other people.  I guess you’ll have to wait and see.
